arabian niiiiiiights.... in ortigia

so did i mention things are done slowly/not on time here? i took a nap today and woke up at 7:45 or so and the arabic night was supposed to start at 8, so i got ready and went next door to the school where no one was to be found. eventually a girl asked me if i was waiting for the arabic night and we ended up talking for about an hour as we waited for anyone to show up. around 9:30 or so, the arabic night actually started... there was a lot of indian food (i didn't know there'd be food and i was still full from arancini smorgasbord lol so i didn't eat anything) and homemade wine. the bellydancing and talk about arabic culture still hadn't started at this point, so i went with some friends to get a granite. it's like a lemon chill kind of, but you can get different flavors. i'd already tried the limone one so this time i got mandorla (almond). it tasted like cinnamon, but it was good and refreshing because it's cold. eventually we went back to the school to see what was going on and watched the bellydancer for a while. she dragged some of our friends up there to dance with her! i hid so she wouldn't take me out there... haha NO WAY. there were so many people there... it was getting really hot, so most of us eventually decided to leave because they wanted to go out tonight. i didn't really feel like it tonight, so i'll prob hang out with them later on this week. i came back to the apartment to get some sleep. my roommates have a field trip tomorrow morning at 7 am, so i'll probably end up waking up around that time too. maybe i'll go read at the cafe down the street in the morning. on tuesdays, they have yoga at 6 am down at the rocks so i want to try that sometime. the guy still hasn't emailed me back about working at the blind center, so hopefully i'll find out information about that soon. (i think the arabian nights party is still happening because i can hear the beating of the drums...) well, off to read my book :) (i tried to use the tv in my room today but it is all staticy)

....sometimes my brain thinks in italian. that's exciting.
