back to ortigia

tonight i'm back in ortigia. last night, liz and i went to get some food from "mancia e fui" (we ate there three times in two days...seriously.) we came back to the hotel after people watching for about an hour. i'm still confused as to how italy is the fashion capital of the world, but alas, we americans get stared at as if we lack fashion sense... who knows. i made a calendar for the following month and put in my trip to florence (the 23-26 of July). that should be a really neat vacation.

today we just grabbed some breakfast from the same little shop. at another cafe, the cash register actually mistook me for an italian! haha! me?! then we waited a while for the hydrofoil and started our journey back to ortigia. on the train from milazzo to siracusa, we actually met a girl who is studying in milan and was on her way home for the summer. she was SO adorable and we talked for a long time. she was really excited that we were from texas and wants to buy some cowboy boots haha! too funny. when we finally got back to ortigia, we took a taxi that dropped off liz and then me. i grabbed a pizzolo for dinner, saw a friend in the piazza, and came back home. then i left the apartment to talk to the fam outside because i couldn't get a good connection here in the apartment. i still don't know what to do about trying to get to sweden... i think it's going to be an early night for me. school starts back up tomorrow morning, and honestly, i'm pretty excited about it because it gives me something to do during the day.
